Research Interests
I am interested in the impact ecosystem decline has on the goods and services ecosystems provide and how this affects human well-being. My PhD research examines the vulnerability of small Caribbean islands to climate change, focusing on the resilience of tourism-related marine and coastal activities. I have a particular interest in policy-relevant environmental research, and have investigated the current and future threats to the marine environment in the Caribbean UK Overseas Territories and constraints to effective environmental management. I am also assessing the potential impact that changes in hurricane risk may have on coral reef resource users in Anguilla. I am also very interested in science communication and in 2008 I co-designed the Tyndall Centre's Silver medal winning ‘2050 Garden’ for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show; an exhibit designed to explore how climate change might affect gardens and gardening practices in the future.
